Privacy notice
This notice explains how personal information is used when you visit this website or make an initial legal enquiry.
Who is responsible for your information
For website and initial enquiry information, the controller is Chamber of Ahmad Barrister. Contact: info@barristerchamber.co.uk; Office 6, Second Floor, 279A High Street, Hounslow TW3 1EF.
Information we collect
We may collect your name, contact details, preferred contact method, the type and urgency of the legal matter, a short account of the issue, source and campaign information, and technical security records. If you later become a client, further identity, financial, case and document information will be covered by the engagement terms and any additional privacy information provided.
Why we use it and lawful bases
- To respond to an enquiry, check urgency, suitability and conflicts, and take steps requested before a possible engagement.
- To provide legal services under a contract where an engagement is accepted.
- To meet legal, regulatory, professional, accounting and security obligations.
- For legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the practice and website, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Where information reveals health, ethnicity, beliefs, immigration status, criminal allegations or other sensitive matters, it may be processed where necessary for legal claims, professional obligations or another lawful condition.
Who may receive it
Information may be handled by service providers supporting the website and hosting, secure forms, email, operational task management, analytics used with any required consent, professional advisers, courts, tribunals, experts, regulators or public authorities where necessary and lawful. Providers are given only the information needed for their role.
International transfers
Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, an applicable adequacy decision or other lawful transfer safeguard is required.
How long we keep it
Initial enquiries are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, manage conflicts and risk, meet professional or legal obligations and deal with possible disputes. Client files and financial records are retained according to the engagement terms, professional obligations and applicable limitation or tax periods. Records are securely deleted or anonymised when no longer required.
Your rights
Depending on the processing and lawful basis, you may ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, or object to processing. Where consent is relied on, it can be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing. To exercise a right, email info@barristerchamber.co.uk.
You may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. See ico.org.uk for current contact options.
